Audio Engineering 101

In this course students will learn the essential tools to begin a career in DJing. This course will cover the following:

​

- Software and Interface setup and management (Students will learn how to use VDJ and decide what settings best work with their intentions)

- Music theory and history (Students will learn some music history about the evolution of DJing as well as key skills and techniques to give a better understanding of the music and various concepts in DJing)

- Counting (Students will learn how to count and pace music to assist with timing mixes)

- Transitioning (Students will learn how to transition between songs with and without mixing)

- Mixing & Blending (Students on the bachelors level will receive an introduction to mixing and blending applying skills learned from previous weeks lessons. A more in depth focus on this will be available in the masters class)

- Mic etiquette and crowd control (Students will learn how to engage during sets and produce the correct energy for the occasion)

Price of class does not include the software needed to apply the techniques learned and taught in class. That is an out of pocket expense that is NOT covered by The Gionation Institution of Film & Arts.  

Latest Version of Virtual DJ needed to complete course.
